Ever Ever Land - A Guided Tour

A Guided Tour to Ever Ever Land

by Kristi Wachter, Head Racerhead, Racer Records. (Please note that all descriptions were written by an unabashed fan; your mileage may vary.)

(Please also note the key word "Pointless" in the Pointless Classifications.)

Enjoy!

  • Slither

    Pointless classification: Alternative Rock
One of their most memorable and recognizable tunes live. A great subtle build; powerful and hypnotic.
Sound clip is taken from the first few lines (this song doesn't really have a verse-and-chorus structure).
"Whatever it is you need, that's inside of me ..."

  • Bottomfeeder

    Pointless classification: Alternative Rock
A perfectly condensed lyric with guitars that totally, totally rock. I can't keep from turning up the CD player on this song.
Sound clip is taken from the second chorus.
"I never said I was a gentleman, Cause I've put away those childish things ..."

  • Superslide

    Pointless classification: Alternative Rock
Heavy guitars give weight to this update on Peter Pan.
Sound clip is taken from the first chorus.
"Superslide - right on in ..."

  • Easily Maim the Lion

    Pointless classification: Pop Alternative
A great song about pain and vulnerability with a catchy, powerful chorus.
Sound clip is taken from the first chorus.
"Maybe that's just the same for you and me - Even the big cats, they don't eat for free ..."

  • Nothing's Too High

    Pointless classification: Alternative Rock
I don't actually know what this song is about but it has some amazing guitar sounds and some very interesting vocal chords in the chorus.
Sound clip is taken from the end of the first verse and the first chorus.
"When the vampire comes a-calling, hold your ears against the song he sings ..."

  • Lifter

Pointless classification: Almost AAA Acoustic-leaning Rock
Very cool acoustic guitars support fascinating, enigmatic lyrics.
Sound clip is taken from the end of the second verse.
"Once upon a time a heavy hearted man was walking, Stand among the stones so he can worship what he wants - now he prays to lifter ..."

  • Use A Gun

    Pointless classification: Alternative Rock
An arresting vocal and lyric. Listen for the bass going into the chorus - one of my favorite parts of the album.
Sound clip is taken from the end of the second verse and the second chorus.
"You might as well have used a gun - there's no coming back from where you put that girl ..."

  • Soak It Up

    Pointless classification: Alternative Rock
I love this song. Great guitar interplay in the first part of the clip and some very nice riffs by Steve toward the end.
Sound clip is taken from the end of the first verse and the first chorus.
"I know you got plans for when this one is through - I know what I will do ..."

  • Bait

    Pointless classification: Alternative Ballad
An incredible, original idea for a love song that's beautiful and tender and still turns into an all-out rock song (note the massive guitars at the end of this clip).
Sound clip is taken from the end of the first chorus.
"It's time for me to take the bait and make a run, pay out the line and wait for the jerk ..."

  • Flowerhead

Pointless classification: Alternative Rock with AAA Overtones
Cool love song with a unique rhythm (partially due to the cool bass line).
Sound clip is taken from the second verse.
"Sleepyhead lying in a big bed, Almost a universe across ..."

  • Oil

    Pointless classification: Wall of Guitars
Massive guitars paired with very intimate lyrics for an amazing sound.
Sound clip is taken from the end of the second verse and the start of the bridge.
"I'll place you on satin sheets, Cover you with oil ..."

  • Tasty

    Pointless classification: Hooky Alternative
This may be my favorite song on the album. I love the lyrics, I love the instrumentation, I love the vocals and the guitars and the drums and just everything about it.
Sound clip is taken from the end of the second verse and the second chorus.
    "Nothing's good until you're down and out - then everything's tasty ..."

  • Happy As Clams

    Pointless classification: Pop Alternative
A nice, (relatively) light poppy let's-get-away-from-here love song that's a very nice finish to the album.
Sound clip is taken from the bridge and subsequent chorus.
"And let our shells be thick to keep out the worry and the news ..."
