I Need A DreamThis is a song I wrote for Tommy Shaw around 1978; I would have been 12 or 13. It's in the key of A minor.
Living on the edge of darkness It's a little harder moving day to day But with someone to help me through the coldness I can find a way Someone there in my fantasies The dream breaks through and somehow frees An inner self that no one else sees You fill my days For though you're just a dream, I love you For whatever it's worth, for what it means And though you are so far away, I need you I need a dream Trying to really know my feelings They're hidden back so far away Can you understand the words that I've been stealing Can you understand a word I say The dreamer laughs and the dreamer cries The dreamer loves and the dreamer lies The dreamer lives for a dream that never dies You fill my days For though you're just a dream, I love you For whatever it's worth, for what it means And though you are so far away, I need you I need a dreamCopyright 1997 Kristi Wachter
